🎉 We're delighted to announce that the Ngöbe project in the Osa Peninsula has been a resounding success! The final project closure report has been submitted, marking the completion of Phase 1.
This achievement is a testament to our shared commitment to revitalizing the traditional culture and cosmovision of the Ngöbe community through Ngöbe textiles.
🌟 Thanks to your support, we've provided sewing machines, training, and built a workshop space now buzzing with activity in Alto Laguna.
Led by the passionate Dario and his family, the community is now producing traditional clothing, creating income opportunities and give classes to preserve their heritage.
Accomplishments:
- Provided sewing machines, training, and constructed a workshop space now being utilised by the community
- Community members, led by Dario are producing traditional clothing and textiles products for income generation
- A local youth training program has been established where they learn how to sew, the significance of the designs in their cultural cosmology, and lessons are taught in both Spanish and their native Ngöbe Bugle language.
🌿 But that's not the end of the story! We're already gearing up for Phase 2, where we'll be taking this project to the next level by creating a Ngöbe textiles brand and youth program. Imagine the impact we can make together as these products find their way into boutiques across Costa Rica!
